Amparo Moya-Knox

Amparo was inducted as a member of the Rotary Club of Adelaide West on Friday 1 July 2016 at Kym Green's Presidential Changeover Dinner, by District Governor John Pohl and Membership Chair John Madigan OAM.

Her husband and two brothers (in Europe) were Rotarians, so she joins our Club with much background knowledge of Rotary.

Her late husband was a British Aerospace executive lobbing (as an Australian) to bring the Concord into Australia but he unfortunately died before it happened.

While Amparo's children were little, she did lots of volunteer "work" having children in need and looking after them. Volunteer work has always been a part of her life since her school days.

While in Cairns Amparo was asked to do interpreting / translator jobs for 5 years by and for the Government. She also received nice reports from adult students about her Spanish teaching.

A move to Sydney because of Concord lobbing - and yes, Amparo has flown in Concord from New York to London - with her children out of her hands, Amparo secured a job with ANZ in their Martin Place Branch. She is now an ANZ retiree. While in Sydney she was a member of Rostrum.

Amparo says her volunteer work has been the most rewarding. "Oh, yes!, of course, I have travelled (and still do) the world many times over! Travelling and volunteering are now my hobbies."
