Port Lincoln Kids on their way to Adelaide
Over the past three years, Port Lincoln High School has sent four senior Food & Hospitality students to Adelaide to compete in the annual SA Schools Culinary Challenge.
This event has been a wonderful initiative for their students, and has even produced an apprentice for the Port Lincoln Hotel.
In 2016 the Rotary Club of Adelaide West has partnered with the Rotary Club of Port Lincoln, with local support also from Bendigo Bank Port Lincoln, to sponsor Port Lincoln High's 2016 group of students entering the challenge.
Their team consists of Ella Blewit and Shania Kartinyeri, and Erin Backman and Shelby Richmond. These four girls will compete against student teams from all over the state at Regency TAFE on Monday June 27th.
Ella and Shania will prepare a green chilli-crusted lamb rack with a spiced pumpkin salad, whilst Erin and Shelby will serve a deconstructed lamb moussaka.
Both teams are currently practising their dishes each Monday lunchtime, enhancing and perfecting their recipes with each attempt. Food & Hospitality teacher Ms Lucy Kilgour and Kitchen Manager Mr Jeremy Hartwich are providing valuable guidance and support, and will accompany the teams to the Challenge.
We wish all four girls the best of luck in the upcoming Challenge and look forward to reporting on their progress.
It is a delight for Rotary to support our local Youth, with the aim to helping these young ladies develop a career in the hospitality industry. We look forward to reporting on their progress and wish them all the best.Find out More! Send us an Email!
