MUNA - Model United Nations Assembly
Our Club in 2021 is considering participating in the Model United Nations Assembly (MUNA) - a significant international Rotary youth program.
Our intention is to invite schools from around Adelaide to nominate teams drawn from their year 10 to 12 student base.
These students would then develop an awareness of the United Nations and the countries they represent at a simulated UN Assembly.
This annual event will provide an excellent forum for students to develop and practice their public speaking skills whilst debating on topical world issues.
MUNA has been held in many Rotary Districts around Australia since 1980. The team that places first in MUNA in our District would then be invited to compete at the Australian National MUNA at the Old Parliament House in Canberra. The first Australian National MUNA took place in August 1997.
The winners from this national event can then be invited to represent Australia at an International competition.
The United Nations continues to give enthusiastic support for the ongoing growth of this worthwhile project for youth.
